Non-fiction review.

The book that I would like to talk about is “A Basketball All-Star.” This book is just a guide to Beginners and how to play basketball and to succeed in the sport. It also helps people to improve them on their dribbling, shooting, determination and sportsmanship. The goes from step by step to becoming a maker of a champion.

I have used this book to help me excel in basketball and to improve on it. Also, I have started to go to basketball since November and my coach has helped me improve as well. Without this book I probably wouldn’t have made it this far in basketball.

Book Review

The book that I would like to talk about is a non-fiction called “World History.” This is talking about the key events and some of them are: Ancient Egypt, Mummies, Vikings, Ancient Rome  and much more. This book is very informative and gives a lot of fun and interesting facts about the key events.

My favourite part of the book was when they were talking about Ancient Egypt. What I learnt about the Egyptians was that the River Nile, the biggest river in the world, was what that made it. By that I mean that if the river Nile, if it wasn’t there Egypt might have never existed.

Once essay. (what kind of a child is Felix)

From the book “Once” I can tell that Felix has a good upbringing. This is because his parents have sent him to an orphanage and this tells me that his parents have basically saved his life. In addition, what I could explore is that his parents have taught him well in good imaginary skills. Plus, he has good manners, he is quite curious and most importantly, he is very friendly. Once I was living in an orphanage” is a quote  from “Once” that shows he has a good upbringing.

Now to consider that, Felix has got good communication skills and he is good at interacting with other people. Not to mention, I can tell that Felix is good at talking to other people because when he was in the attic with all the other children the kids where begging Felix to tell a story. Also, I have realised that he is very creative and imaginative with his stories. “Can we have a story please Felix?” Is a quote that proves he is good at communicating.

Furthermore, Felix uses his imagination creatively because he knows how to tell stories that are informative and interesting. He also writes interesting stories about his mum and dad in his journal. This tells me that he enjoys to read books and to write them . “I’ve written stories about mum and dad”are the stories that he wrote and his a quote to prove this point.

He is also rule-breaking but does it for the best. This is because at the beginning of the story Felix was in an orphanage, he escaped to find his parents when he wasn’t supposed to but he did because he loves his parents. He is also very curious because in the book before he found Zelda he heard gunshots and people screaming and went a bit closer to see it. However, he could’ve been shot and killed. Now to consider that, he is friendly because he is kind and he looked after Zelda and he is calm. So this  is who I think Felix is.

How are horror stories effective.

Horror stories are stories that have to be scary or quite scary and they should make us feel suspense and make us ask questions. My class and I have looked at a horror story by Anthony Horowitz and the name of the story is the man in the yellow face. The title doesn’t sound like a horror story but it sounds like a mystery story because you woulden’t see a man in a yellow face unless they paint it yellow. However, the story is a bit scary in it is a good children’s book. Also what this book has is that the setting is in a place where you would think it is not scary but the more you read the more suspense happens and the more scareer you feel. So I have used these tips to make my own horror story but I haven’t really started in a non-scary place. I started it in a comic store where a 13 year old boy is getting bullied and buys a comic with all the horrific creature and animals inside. So when he reads a page it will cause a disaster. So this is how I think a horror story and how it can affect from the way you write it.

Stories that my parents told me (HWK2)

When I was about 9 years old, my mum told me a story about my great grandfather, who was in World War One and Two and how he saved thousands of people from Poland. So it started off when my grand father was in the house in the basement and how he was listening on the radio. Suddenly, he heard the news that the Germans were going to invade the country. So he was quick and told all the people in Poland to get prepared for the invasion. By doing that he let the siren go on before the Germans came to the Border. Everyone evacuated and however some were taken to trucks. So that is my story and if my great grandfather wasn’t alive Poland would had been destroyed to bits.
